This article aims to analyze the possibilities and limitations of cordel as a pedagogical resource for the educational context in Roraima,Brazil, using Cordel para o Ensino de Botânica: Morfologia, by Rodrigo Leonardo Costa de Oliveira and Willian Alves Cavalcante, as the object of analysis. The study follows a qualitative, bibliographic, and documentary approach, with exploratory and descriptive purposes. The corpus consists of studies directly focused on cordel literature, its educational use, or experiences involving the transformation of scientific knowledge into cordel language. The selection included foundational works, research published between 2015 and 2026, and institutional documents, retrieved through search strings combining the Boolean operators AND and OR. The analysis was organized into four categories: genre characteristics, pedagogical possibilities, didactic transposition, and regional contextualization. The findings indicate that cordel can foster interest in reading, oral communication, authorial writing, and content comprehension, provided that it is approached as both a literary genre and a cultural practice rather than merely as an entertaining activity. The selected work combines botanical vocabulary, six- and seven-line stanzas, and illustrations inspired by woodcuts, offering a concrete example of the relationship between literature, science, and regional culture.
