In this context, this study aimed to diagnose the factors responsible for the degradation of the riparian forest along the Paiva Stream, located in the Serra do Tepequém, municipality of Amajari, Roraima, Brazil, and to relate these factors to land use and land cover patterns. The research adopted a qualitative and quantitative approach, with an applied, exploratory, and documentary nature, based on a literature review, field observations, photographic records, and geoprocessing techniques. Data analysis was carried out through the integrated interpretation of field information and the classification of environmental impacts, using the criteria proposed by Sánchez (2008), which allowed the identification of the main degradation processes affecting the study area. The results revealed that the removal of riparian vegetation, irregular land occupation, improper disposal of solid waste, and the intensification of anthropogenic activities have significantly contributed to the environmental degradation of the Paiva Stream, promoting erosion, sedimentation, biodiversity loss, and the deterioration of water resource conservation. Furthermore, these impacts pose a serious threat to the ecological integrity of the ecosystem and to the sustainability of tourism activities developed in the Serra do Tepequém. In response to this scenario, integrated environmental restoration measures are proposed, including reforestation with native species, continuous monitoring of riparian vegetation, strengthened environmental enforcement, and the ongoing implementation of environmental education programs targeting the local community, visitors, and educational institutions.
