This qualitative work, based on bibliographic research combined with teaching practice, analyzes central concepts of Linguistics and Education, such as language, text, discourse, reading, and writing, in the light of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) and different theoretical perspectives. The investigation aimed to understand how these concepts can support meaningful pedagogical practices in Portuguese Language teaching, emphasizing the relevance of textual genres, didactic sequences, and active methodologies in the learning process. The results show that adopting contextualized and interactive practices favors the construction of students' reading and writing autonomy, connecting school content to their social reality. However, challenges related to lack of resources and resistance to innovative methods were also identified. The analysis reveals that integrating theory and practice requires constant critical reflection, pedagogical adaptation, and commitment to the formation of critical and creative subjects.
