Therefore, understanding how this content is worked in classes is essential. In this scenario, textbooks (LD) assume great relevance, as they are often the main resource used by teachers in teaching Science and Biology. With this concern in mind, this study analyzed five collections approved by the National Textbook Program (PNLD), focusing on the treatment given to the topic of parasitic diseases. The analysis considered the parasites presented and the use of images as visual support. The results indicated that, although the books contribute to learning and building knowledge about parasitology, there are still relevant gaps, as some parasitic diseases with a major epidemiological impact are not covered or appear superficially.
