It sought to understand how proficiency in this language contributes to improving communication, strengthening intercultural relations, and increasing competitiveness in the job market. The research was conducted through a qualitative approach, based on a bibliographic review of authors who discuss the relevance of English in professional and tourism contexts. The analysis of the references showed that English has been consolidated as a global means of communication, as pointed out by Crystal (2003), being widely used in interactions between tourists and professionals in the field. Furthermore, according to Byram (1997), mastering the language also promotes the development of intercultural communicative competence, which is essential for tourism professionals to understand and respect cultural differences in their daily practices. Freire (1996) complements this idea by emphasizing the importance of liberating and critical education, which includes learning foreign languages to broaden horizons and promote the personal and professional development of individuals in this area. It is concluded that learning the English language is an essential requirement for the comprehensive training of tourism professionals, as it enables more efficient, ethical, and culturally sensitive performance in the contemporary global context.pt-BRAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 BrazilLíngua inglesaTurismoComunicação interculturalFormação de trabalhoMercado de trabalhoComunicando-se com o mundo: a importância da língua inglesa na formação do profissional de turismotcc_graduacaoCIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::TURISMOLINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTES::LETRAS::LINGUAS ESTRANGEIRAS MODERNASCIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::COMUNICACAOCIENCIAS HUMANAS::EDUCACAO
