This study aimed to investigate this scenario in Iracema, in the interior of Roraima, seeking to understand how the resulting local infrastructure problems relate to management and planning barriers within the municipal administration. To this end, a descriptive study with a quantitative approach was conducted, based on the collection and critical evaluation of official secondary data from the SNIS, SINISA, and the Water and Sanitation Institute (Instituto Água e Saneamento - IAS) for the base-year 2023. The indicators revealed a concerning situation across all sectors: the drinking water network serves only 41.1% of residents, with distribution losses reaching 87.1%. Sewage collection covers 11.3% of the town, and there is no treatment of the collected material, which is discharged directly into nature. Garbage collection is partial (54.3%), and the open burning of waste is frequent due to the absence of a sanitary landfill. Stormwater management lacks both data and planned infrastructure. Based on this diagnosis, it is concluded that the delay in sanitation in Iracema-RR extends beyond a lack of financial resources, reflecting structural and administrative challenges at the local level.
