Trabalho de conclusão de curso (Licenciatura em Pedagogia) - Instituto Federal de Roraima, Boa Vista, 2026.https://repositorio.ifrr.edu.br/handle/123456789/364This article aims to analyze the contribution of daycare centers to the integral development of very young children, defined by the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) as those aged between 1 year and 7 months and 3 years and 11 months. The study is justified by the need to overcome conceptions that reduce daycare to a custodial space, recognizing it as an educational institution committed to the child's integral formation. This is a bibliographic research with a qualitative approach and a descriptive-exploratory character, carried out between March and June 2026 through searches in the SciELO, CAPES Journal Portal, Google Scholar and institutional repositories databases, encompassing classic works on child development Vygotsky, Piaget and Wallon, contemporary studies on Early Childhood Education and Brazilian normative documents. The results show that daycare centers, historically marked by welfarism, have been consolidated as a child's right and as the first stage of Basic Education, and that intentional pedagogical practices, structured around interactions, play and the inseparability of caring and educating, foster physical, cognitive, affective, social and linguistic development.
