Contribuições do simulador virtual PhET para o ensino de biologia: uma revisão da literatura com enfoque na realidade das escolas da Região Norte do Brasil. 2026. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Lincenciatura em Ciências Biológicas) - Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciências e Tecnologia de Roraima, 2026.https://repositorio.ifrr.edu.br/handle/123456789/551Biology teaching faces major challenges in Brazilian public schools, including the predominance of lecture-based classes, difficulties in addressing abstract concepts, the absence of laboratories, and the lack of resources for practical activities. In the Northern Region of Brazil, where structural limitations, irregular internet access, and challenges in teacher training are common, these obstacles become even more significant. This study aims to analyze the contribution of the PhET virtual simulator to the teaching and learning process in Biology, assessing its potential as a pedagogical resource. Specifically, it seeks to investigate the barriers to conducting practical classes, examine evidence regarding the use of virtual simulations, and analyze the extent to which local limitations may affect the implementation of this tool. This research is a qualitative bibliographic study based on the analysis of 34 scientific publications selected from SciELO, the CAPES Journal Portal, and institutional repositories. The reviewed literature indicates that practical activities are essential for connecting theoretical knowledge with real-world experiences, while the PhET simulator enables students to visualize and manipulate biological processes that are otherwise difficult to observe, such as cell structure and gene regulation. The platform is free, user-friendly, and can be used offline, contributing to deeper conceptual understanding and improved student performance compared to traditional teaching methods. However, the findings also show that virtual simulations do not replace physical laboratories and require careful pedagogical planning and effective teacher mediation. It is concluded that the PhET simulator is a valuable educational resource capable of mitigating structural limitations, promoting more dynamic teaching practices, and making scientific knowledge more accessible to students in public schools in the Northern Region of Brazil.pt-BRAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 BrazilPlataforma Physics Education TechnoloySimulações virtuaisEnsino de biologiaAulas práticasEscolas da região Norte do BrasilContribuições do simulador virtual PhET para o ensino de biologia: uma revisão da literatura com enfoque na realidade das escolas da Região Norte do Brasiltcc_graduacaoCIENCIAS BIOLOGICAS
