Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas) – Instituto Federal de Roraima, Boa Vista, 2026.https://repositorio.ifrr.edu.br/handle/123456789/594The teaching-learning process in the subjects of Science and Biology in High School faces challenges related to student demotivation and the predominance of traditional pedagogical practices, making it necessary to adopt strategies that promote greater student participation and meaningful learning. In this context, the present study aimed to analyze how practical classes and active methodologies contribute to the teaching-learning process in the subjects of Science and Biology in High School, based on the scientific literature. This is a qualitative bibliographic and documentary study developed through the analysis of 22 academic works, including scientific articles, theses, dissertations, and undergraduate final papers, published over the last fifteen years and selected from Google Scholar, SciELO, and the CAPES Journal Portal databases. The findings revealed that the use of active methodologies and practical classes fosters student protagonism, autonomy, participation, critical thinking, and meaningful learning, while also bringing scientific content closer to students' reality. The study also identified challenges to the implementation of these strategies, such as infrastructure limitations, the scarcity of teaching resources, and the need for continuing teacher education.
