The study aimed to identify and analyze the main aspects that influence students’ participation or withdrawal from classes, seeking to understand how motivation affects engagement and attendance. The research employed both qualitative and quantitative approaches, using questionnaires administered to students and a semi-structured interview with the Physical Education teacher. The results indicated that, although most students recognize the importance of the subject and show interest in physical activities, there are significant levels of demotivation and non-participation related to factors such as shyness, body insecurity, lack of interest, limited activity variety, and insufficient teacher-student communication. Furthermore, structural and emotional aspects, such as a lack of material resources and fear of peer judgment, also contribute to student disengagement. It was concluded that dropout in Physical Education classes is a multifactorial phenomenon that requires a reconfiguration of pedagogical practices to make them more dynamic, inclusive, and participatory, emphasizing dialogue, enjoyment of movement, and student protagonism.
