Sociology is presented as an essential discipline for developing analytical and civic competencies, enabling students to understand and question social structures and existing inequalities. The study highlights the importance of a pedagogical approach that goes beyond mere content transmission, promoting critical and reflective education. It discusses the challenges faced by educators in implementing an effective sociological approach, including the need for continuous training and curriculum adaptation to incorporate relevant and current topics. The literature consulted also points to student resistance and the scarcity of teaching resources as recurring obstacles to be overcome. Furthermore, the article explores how pedagogical practices can be transformed to make Sociology teaching more inclusive and engaging, using active and collaborative methodologies that encourage student participation. By providing a deeper understanding of power relations and social dynamics, Sociology contributes to the formation of more conscious and critical citizens, capable of acting actively and knowledgeably in society.
