Drawing on concepts such as Eurocentrism, Freire's liberating education, and inclusive education, the study analyzes how the Eurocentric worldview persists in the municipality’s collective memory, reflected in official symbols — the flag and the coat of arms — and in the historical narrative that privileges European colonization while tending to render Indigenous, Afro-Brazilian, and Quilombola peoples invisible. Law nº 11.645/2008 is recognized as a milestone for emancipatory and inclusive education, guiding the development of an education system that values Brazil’s cultural diversity. However, its effective implementation faces challenges, including oversight, ongoing teacher training, the production of teaching materials, and cross-curricular integration. Continuing education efforts for teachers are limited, and there is a demand for teaching materials grounded in local data and greater involvement of traditional communities in the development of educational resources. The study also presents data collected from basic education teachers and through consultation with the Municipal Department of Education, highlighting the need for more in-depth training and support materials. It concludes that emancipatory education, inspired by Paulo Freire, remains essential to reframe historical memory and territoriality in Jaguaré. However, it is necessary to expand locally grounded materials, actively involve Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and Quilombola communities, and strengthen the oversight and management of Law nº 11.645/2008. It is recommended that the Department of Education, in partnership with the Department of Culture, develop a publishing project on the municipality’s ethnic and cultural diversity, making educational materials available in schools and libraries, and promoting a review of local symbols to contribute to truly inclusive education.pt-BRAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 BrazilLei 11.645/2008EurocentrismoIdentidade regionalEducação emancipatóriaEducação - Jaguaré (ES)A importância da lei nº 11.645/2008 no ensinoaprendizagem da territorialidade e identidades no município de Jaguaré - EStcc_especializacaoCIENCIAS HUMANASCIENCIAS HUMANAS::GEOGRAFIA
