In this context, combating linguistic prejudice and ensuring access to the standard variety are fundamental aspects of students' linguistic education. This study analyzes the challenges of teaching the standard language variety in contexts of linguistic variation, discussing the role of schools and teachers in promoting pedagogical practices that integrate these two dimensions. The methodological procedures are based on qualitative bibliographic research, drawing on the works of Bagno, Bortoni-Ricardo, and Faraco, as well as official documents that guide Portuguese Language teaching. The findings indicate that valuing linguistic diversity does not exclude the teaching of the standard variety.
