It seeks to foster critical awareness regarding academic research practices in digital environments within the field of PTE. Academic research can be understood as the pursuit of information inherent to academic activity—with a focus on learning—conducted in internet-based virtual environments; such research must be carried out in an ethical and responsible manner. Ethics in digital academic research emerges as a central theme for ensuring scientific integrity and the quality of the knowledge produced. Easy online access to information, combined with vast amounts of content—ranging from verified to unverified, reliable to unreliable, and including distorted or manipulated material—necessitates the development of critical thinking skills among students. Furthermore, plagiarism and the improper use of research sources remain recurring issues in the academic environment. This study aims to investigate how academic research practices in PTE can be enhanced to promote ethical and critical education, taking into account the specificities of the virtual context. Participants included ten students and four teachers from the Technical Course in Pharmacy at the Professor Antônio de Pinho Lima State Center for Professional Education. A mixed-methods (qualitative-quantitative) approach was adopted; the study was applied in nature and exploratory in objective. Procedures included a literature review and exploratory surveys conducted with both students and teachers, utilizing questionnaires containing open-ended and closed-ended questions. The results informed the development of an educational product—an e-book titled *Educational Guide: Ethics in Academic Research in Digital Environments in PTE*.
