Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Pós-graduação) – Instituto Federal de Roraima, Novo Paraíso, 2026.https://repositorio.ifrr.edu.br/handle/123456789/434This training report analyzes school dropout in the Higher Technology Degree in Public Management, offered through Distance Education by the Federal Institute of Roraima (IFRR), at the Open University of Brazil (UAB) Center in the municipality of Alto Alegre, Roraima. The study is based on the understanding that school dropout is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, which cannot be limited to individual decisions or student disinterest. The objective of the investigation was to understand the factors associated with dropout and to reflect on coping possibilities focused on academic permanence and success in professional and Technological Education. The research was characterized by a qualitative, descriptive methodology developed through a case study, which involved two cohorts of the course between the periods of 2023–2025 and 2025–2026.1, totaling 75 students. Data were obtained through document analysis, systematic observation, institutional spreadsheets, and dialogues with students, tutors, and coordination. The results showed that dropout results from the interaction between individual, institutional, and socioeconomic factors, emphasizing the balance between study and work, technological difficulties, weaknesses in pedagogical mediation, academic communication limitations, digital exclusion, and geographic distances. Furthermore, they pointed out that student permanence depends not only on the technological offer, but on the strengthening of welcoming practices, tutoring, academic monitoring, and democratic management.
