In this context, Inquiry-Based Science Education has emerged as a methodological approach capable of promoting greater student participation in the process of constructing scientific knowledge. This study aimed to analyze the contributions of Inquiry-Based Science Education to the scientific literacy of high school students. The research is characterized as a bibliographic study with a qualitative and exploratory approach, using books, scientific articles, dissertations, and educational documents related to the topic as its corpus. The literature analysis showed that the investigative methodology promotes meaningful learning, stimulates curiosity, hypothesis formulation, argumentation, and problem-solving skills, while also contributing to the development of autonomy and student protagonism. Challenges to its implementation were also identified, including the need for adequate teacher training and improved structural conditions in educational institutions.
